چکیده

Paroxysmal hemicrania (PH) was first described by Sjaastad and Dale and called ‘chronic PH’ 2 years later. The current International Classification of Headache Disorders (ICHD-II) classification criteria requires at least 20 attacks of severe unilateral orbital, supraorbital, or temporal pain, lasting 2–30 min, accompanied by ipsilateral cranial autonomic features such as ptosis, eyelid edema, conjunctival injection, lacrimation, nasal blockage, or rhinorrhoea. Attacks usually have a frequency of above five a day, and respond completely to indomethacin. Since the initial description, more than 100 cases have described in the literature.

Trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW This article covers the clinical manifestations and differential diagnosis of the trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias (TACs). RECENT FINDINGS TACs comprise a subgroup of primary headache disorders presenting with lateralized, often severe, pain accompanied by cranial autonomic features. The key syndromes are cluster headache, paroxysmal hemicrania, short-lasting unilateral neu...

Trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias: paroxysmal hemicrania, SUNCT/SUNA, and hemicrania continua.

The trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias (TACs) are a group of primary headache disorders that include cluster headache (CH), paroxysmal hemicrania (PH), and short-lasting unilateral neuralgiform headache attacks with conjunctival injection and tearing/cranial autonomic features (SUNCT/SUNA). Hemicrania continua (HC) is often included with this group, although the second edition of The Internation...

Trigeminal Autonomic Cephalalgias (TACs) – SUNCT/SUNA

Short-lasting unilateral neuralgiform headache attacks with conjunctival injection and tearing (SUNCT) and short-lasting unilateral neuralgiform headache attacks with cranial autonomic symptoms (SUNA) are rare headache syndromes which make up the trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias (TACs), along with cluster headache and paroxysmal hemicrania. All of the TACs are characterized by attacks of sever...

Neuromodulatory approaches to the treatment of trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias.

The trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias (TACs) are a group of primary headache syndromes characterised by intense pain and associated activation of cranial parasympathetic autonomic outflow pathways out of proportion to the pain. The TACs include cluster headache, paroxysmal hemicrania and SUNCT (short-lasting unilateral neuralgiform headache attacks with conjunctival injection and tearing). The ...

Advances in the Treatment of Cluster Headache

Cluster headache (CH) is one of the trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias (TACs), which are primary headache disorders characterised by unilateral head pain occurring in association with prominent ipsilateral cranial autonomic features, such as lacrimation, conjunctival injection or nasal symptoms.1,2 TACs include paroxysmal hemicrania (PH) and short-lasting unilateral neuralgiform headache attacks...
